A field technical engineer assists and supports our customers (physicians and
clinicians) in using St. Jude Medical products to perform medical procedures.
Daniele is focused on the cardiac rhythm management products manufactured by
St. Jude Medical. She provides field support for clinical research and
collaborates with the sales force to develop business strategies and improve
products based on her first hand conversations with physicians. "I support the
clinical trials as you never know what outcomes will lead to new and innovative
products for the future." Daniele also is the liaison between the medical
community and St. Jude Medical, using her technical expertise and knowledge
daily to contribute to successful outcomes for patients.
A highlight of her position is the constant, face-to-face interaction with
customers. "I support our customers during procedures, such as cardiac
resynchronization therapy (CRT), because a procedure that succeeds leads to an
improvement of the patient's condition and better quality of life."
As a field technical engineer, Daniele is also involved during patient follow
up. She partners with the physician or clinician to resolve any technical
issues that arise and fine tunes the programming of the device based on the
patient's specific, individual needs. A typical week includes one or two
procedural or follow-up appointments a day. When Daniele returns to her home
office, she has many email messages to answer, reports to file, and hours of
continued clinical trial and product research to perform.
Daniele is passionate about the industry. On top of her normal workload, she
spends time with colleagues and physicians during her off hours. She recently
prepared, in partnership with others, a university course covering cardiac
resynchronization, ICDs, and pacemakers. "It is strange to come back to your
university and be the person at the front of the class, but this has been a
wonderful opportunity to showcase St. Jude Medical products." The experience
was so positive that Daniele is working on another course, which she will share
with master level surgeons at a large hospital in Milan. "It is easy to speak
about our good products as I see first hand how satisfied our customers are
when using our materials."
A favorite song came to mind in describing St. Jude Medical and our products,
"I'll be There for You" by The Rembrandts. The refrain is: I'll be there for
you when the rain starts to pour. I'll be there for you like I've been there
before. I'll be there for you 'cuz you're there for me too. Daniele knows
she is representing St. Jude Medical in her role as a field technical engineer
and she is determined to be there for our customers today and in the future.
