As a senior marketing manager focused on patient initiatives, Meredith
is responsible for making sure Neuromodulation Division Web sites provide appropriate,
useful content to customers. This includes managing the recently launched
Power Over Your Pain Web site, an internal sales portal, and other
divisional Web sites. Close to her heart are the patients she has the
opportunity to meet and work with during patient education programs and who are
part of the unique
Patient Ambassador Program. The Patient Ambassador Program connects
potential neurostimulation candidates with those who already have
devices.
The Patient Ambassador Program is a creative, thoughtful approach to connecting
patients with patients. Meredith manages this program. Her role is to build
awareness of neurostimulation with patients. "I am involved in growing
our ambassador program and providing engaging educational materials during
the different phases of the learning process."
The Patient Ambassador Program is already helping many people with chronic pain.
Patients with devices are sharing their real experiences with candidates for
neurostimulation. "These ambassadors graciously share their personal
perspectives with those seeking information prior to therapy." (The ambassadors
are volunteers and are not paid by St. Jude Medical.)

Meredith has been patient-focused since she worked as a physical therapist.
"I was a physical therapist for three years in acute, rehab and outpatient
settings, where I saw patients with various medical conditions, osteoarthritis
and back pain." This stint as a therapist working first-hand with patients
increased Meredith's compassion and understanding. "Pain and loss of mobility
greatly impacts the quality of life for an individual. I know the challenges
and am in a position to help patients, which is quite rewarding."
St. Jude Medical provides an environment where you can thrive if you use
creativity, resourcefulness and dedication. Meredith's advice to Gen X and Y:
"Ask good questions. Do your research. Don't be afraid to share your ideas and
experiences, as everyone has something to offer." Management at St. Jude
Medical listens, cares, and supports the employees.
"I know that my contributions are valued. You will find that you can contribute
immediately and that this is a great place to work." Meredith added that care
and concern for patients outweighs concern about the bottom line. "We base
decisions on ethics. People—whether they be employees or
patients—truly matter here."
