Growth at St. Jude Medical
St. Jude Medical is committed to continuous innovation and growth in its people, products and
programs. This growth will include investments in infrastructure, in the skills and development
of employees, and in the depth and breadth of the company's product portfolio. Examples of
recent significance for St. Jude Medical include:
-
Atrial fibrillation: St. Jude Medical is a pioneer in the atrial
fibrillation (AF) market. The Company has one of the broadest and deepest programs
in one of the best growth opportunities in medical devices. Technology such as the
EnSite Velocity cardiac mapping system, which creates detailed images of the heart
to help physicians diagnose and treat cardiac arrhythmias, demonstrates St. Jude
Medical's leadership in this area.
-
Connectivity: St. Jude Medical is focused on providing physicians
with timely, actionable data about patients' conditions and device statuses. With
the recent launch of the Accent RF pacemaker and Anthem RF CRT-P (cardiac
resynchronization therapy pacemaker), St. Jude Medical now offers integrated wireless
systems from implant through follow-up for both high and low voltage devices. The company's
Merlin.net patient care network (PCN) also allows physicians to compile a more complete
patient record, by easily transferring cardiac device data into electronic health records
(EHRs).
-
Neuromodulation: With the 2008 launch of the Eon® Mini
neurostimulator, the world's smallest and longest lasting rechargeable spinal cord
stimulator, St. Jude Medical has seen significant growth in its Neuromodulation
business. St. Jude Medical also received European approval in 2008 for the Libra
Deep Brain Stimulation System for the treatment of Parkinson's disease, and completed
enrollment in its U.S. pivotal trial for Parkinson's disease this year.
