Getting Hired

You are an achiever, who is confident in your abilities. You want to make a difference. You recognize the breadth of resources and opportunities that a global organization can provide.

Whether you are interviewing for a six month co-op position or a senior level role, we value and appreciate your interest in our company. Below is information to help you succeed during the application and interview process.

Application Process

In general, our hiring process follows these steps:

  1. You apply for a position online.

If you have a resume available for uploading, you can use the upload feature on the Submit Resume or C.V. page. This means less typing for you, plus the original format of your resume is retained. Make sure to upload your resume prior to completing any information on the form.

If you do not have an electronic resume, complete the online form on the Submit Resume or C.V. page.
We recommend that you set up an SJM career profile. This will allow you to return to this Web site to quickly and easily apply for open positions. You can also register for e-mail job alerts that are based on search criteria you select.
  2. You receive an e-mail confirmation that we received your resume.
  3. Depending on the volume of resumes for a position, your resume is reviewed by HR and possibly the hiring manager.
  4. If you are not qualified for the position or if you have applied too late to be considered, typically you will receive e-mail notification.
  5. If you meet the minimum qualifications for the position, an HR representative will contact you. Do not be concerned if it takes a few weeks for us to respond to your application. We receive a large number of applications and our hiring managers often are away on business travel, which can delay the initial review process.
  6. We commonly pre-screen applicants by conducting a phone interview. We call you to obtain more information and to share additional information about our company and the position.
  7. If there is interest to move forward, you may be asked to complete an additional phone interview with the hiring manager or someone from her or his team.
  8. If there is continued interest, we schedule an on-site interview. Note: Sometimes, due to travel schedules and the type of position, you may have multiple on-site interviews.
  9. If we all decide to move forward, you will work directly with an HR representative to discuss the offer and complete pre-employment screening such as a background check and/or drug screening.
  10. If you accept our offer, your journey at St. Jude Medical has begun. We will partner with you to schedule orientation and on-boarding activities.

Use of Search Firms

We do not accept unsolicited resumes from search firms or recruiting agencies. If we need the assistance of a search firm, we will contact the firm and require a signed agency agreement. Prospective employees should submit resumes directly online.
