Michael spends his weeks managing software application upgrades and supporting projects for the human resources (HR) team, including employee stock purchase, benefits open enrollment and the time management system. Depending on the specific project, his role may be project manager, test lead or business analyst. “I work with all levels of employees in human resources, payroll, benefits and information technology to develop solutions using our internal software applications or to provide general system support to HR.” He also meets regularly with his business partners, asking them for new ways to improve the use of technology and their processes.
Opportunity, people and satisfaction are three words Michael uses to describe the culture. “Everyone has the opportunity to learn and grow professionally here and I’ve found that SJM employees are motivated to do their best.” As with many employees, Michael added that he has a great deal of satisfaction in knowing that our products improve the lives of our customers.
Michael, who has a BA in Business Administration, recommends St. Jude Medical to college graduates saying, “Their contributions will be appreciated and recognized.” He’s found that the company cares about its employees too. “The work environment is excellent; pay and benefits are great too.”
While he is often in leadership roles, teamwork is the foundation of his success. A recent highlight was his partnership with a team of employees from across the United States where he served as project manager and led the effort to deliver an upgraded time management system. “It’s exciting being part of a company in a growth mode as you have the chance to work on large scale projects that impact many people.”
