As Associate Field Technical Specialist for St. Jude Medical’s Atrial Fibrillation team in South Wales, Australia, Pratik puts his Bachelor of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering to good use. From his day-to-day responsibilities -- supporting electrophysiology cases, servicing 3D mapping systems and training – to the people he serves – Field Technical Manager, Capital Equipment Manager, Doctors, Nurses, Cardiac Technicians and the NSW AF-CRM team – Pratik is always on the go. In fact, if he had one super-human power, it would be to fly so he could get to cases faster.
One of his favorite things about St. Jude Medical are his teammates. According to Pratik, they genuinely love what they do, believe in the technology and are, in his words, “genuine, passionate and motivated.” He says, “They go out of their way to ensure that you’ll get the best training, both in the field and in the office. They are passionate about what they do, which makes St. Jude Medical a really enjoyable place to work.”
He is also inspired by the cutting-edge technology he works with every day. He believes that electrophysiology will become increasingly popular as it gains more awareness.
His advice to those just starting out at St. Jude Medical is to listen to the advice of managers and colleagues, and also to enjoy your work. Says Pratik, “Be passionate about what you do. I’ve been fascinated with Biomedical Engineering since the 10th grade and never thought of pursuing any other path since. St Jude Medical is an awesome place to start your career as the combination of amazing people and technology provides the ideal learning environment. “ He also credits his parents for their support of his career choices.
