Xinia developed her natural talents as a leader, teacher and problem-solver early in life, as the oldest of her sisters and friends. And while she no longer helps them with their homework and leads their games, those early lessons have served her well in her position as Training Leader in St. Jude Medical’s Costa Rican operation.
Charged with certifying employees to comply with production plans, she works in concert with a global group of trainers in the United States, Brazil, and Costa Rica to continually improve assembly processes and training systems. She also interacts with the entire production team on a daily basis to ensure that each employee is certified to St. Jude Medical’s quality standards for manufacturing. We analyze each case and we look for the best way in which we can help them become certified.
Looking back on her career path, which started in pharmaceuticals, Xinia believes one of her greatest accomplishments to be the start-up of operations in Costa Rica and the successful development and transfer of the facility’s Trifecta valve team. She is inspired by being part of a team that saves lives. In turn, she trains and motivates each employee to do their best and deliver the highest level of quality.
Xinia cites the company’s vision, mission, and quality policy as reasons to choose St. Jude Medical. Other positives include the interaction between sites, the teamwork, and the high quality of her co-workers. She feels that St Jude Medical looks out for the well being of its employees and gives them the tools and opportunities necessary for growth within the company. She tells those just starting out not to give up the struggle to reach your objectives. Says Xinia, “Nothing can limit your growth – only you can.”
