Fu Guo-Lin takes pride in his work as a photojournalist in China, but several years ago his career was interrupted by a serious health problem. Guo-Lin was admitted to the hospital with a high fever and was diagnosed with endocarditis, an infection of the heart usually caused by bacteria.

Doctors immediately began treating him with antibiotics, but when he did not respond, they performed open-heart surgery and replaced his severely damaged aortic valve with a St. Jude Medical® mechanical valve.

Just one month after the surgery, Guo-Lin was able to return to the work he loves.
