Naoki Tateyama
ICD Implant
Naoki suffers from Brugada syndrome, an inherited arrhythmia that causes the heart's ventricles to beat too fast (fibrillate) and can lead to sudden cardiac death. Brugada syndrome occurs most frequently in young adults and in people of Asian ancestry.
Fortunately, Naoki is protected by St. Jude Medical's Epic™+
ICD, an implantable defibrillator designed to shock
an erratic heart back to normal. This "safety net" allows Naoki
to enjoy normal activities like reading, shopping, and biking in
his hometown of Yokosuka-city, Japan.
