Our Solutions

Our Heart Arrhythmia Treatment Solutions

Abbott designs and builds implantable devices and systems to treat and manage challenging heart rhythm conditions for many different kinds of patients. We offer implantable cardiac devices, leads and cardiac (heart) ablation systems, as well other solutions, that can offer effective, safe treatment for, and monitoring of, your arrhythmia condition. Our goal is to help you return to a healthy, active life.

Insertable cardiac monitor (ICM)

An insertable cardiac monitor, or ICM, is a small device inserted under the skin by your doctor that monitors and records your heart rhythms over a long period of time. The information it records can help doctors diagnose heart events that may cause symptoms such as heart palpitations, other irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias) or unexplained fainting (syncope).

A pacemaker is a minicomputer that sends electrical pulses to your heart whenever it detects a slow heartbeat, irregular heartbeat or no heartbeat. In this way, a pacemaker helps restore your heart’s normal rhythm.

Implantable cardioversion defibrillators (ICDs)

An implantable cardioversion defibrillator, or ICD, is a minicomputer that sends electrical impulses to your heart whenever it detects a potentially dangerous and very fast heartbeat. These impulses help restore your heart’s normal rhythm.

Cardiac ablation

Cardiac ablation, also known as heart ablation, aims to correct irregular heartbeats by scarring (ablating) small areas of heart tissue that cause your arrhythmia, or abnormal heart rhythm.

Pacemaker and ICD remote monitoring

Remote monitoring allows your pacemaker or implantable cardiac device (ICD) to communicate with your hospital or clinic without your having to go in for an appointment. The communication takes place when a transmitter reads data from your pacemaker or ICD and sends that information by way of a secure website to your hospital or clinic for your doctor to interpret.
