How the CardioMEMS™ HF System Works
The CardioMEMS™ HF system measures your pulmonary artery pressure and heart rate through a sensor that is implanted in your pulmonary artery (the blood vessel that moves blood from your heart to your lungs). Once the device is implanted, you take daily pressure readings from the comfort of your home and wirelessly transmit the data to your doctor for continuous monitoring.
The sensor is small and does not require any batteries or wires. You will not feel it, and it will not interfere with your daily activities or other implated devices such as a pacemaker or defibrillator.
The system includes an electronics unit that you use to take the daily measurements. This is a simple process that takes only a few minutes. There is no pain or sensation during the readings.
