If you have been diagnosed with heart failure, you may benefit from a CardioMEMS™ HF System. Finding a clinic that can provide you with more information is easy.

What Is Pulmonary Artery Pressure Monitoring?

Pulmonary artery (PA) pressure monitoring helps you and your doctor keep a closer eye on the progress of your heart failure treatment. By monitoring your PA pressure, your doctor may be able to detect worsening heart failure before you feel symptoms, such as shortness of breath or weight gain.

Your doctor can respond by changing your medications, which may reduce your chance of ending up in the hospital. In fact, clinical studies show that patients whose clinicians used a PA sensor to manage heart failure actually had fewer hospitalizations and improved quality of life.1

How PA pressure monitoring works

A PA pressure monitoring system uses a sensor to measure your pulmonary artery pressure and heart rate. The sensor is no larger than the size of a dime, with two thin loops at each end. The sensor is implanted in your pulmonary artery (the blood vessel that moves blood from your heart to your lungs). The system comes with an electronics unit that you use to take daily measurements and send them wirelessly to your doctor.

The St. Jude Medical commitment to successful PA pressure monitoring

Since the first implantable pacemaker was developed in 1958, millions have benefited from pacemaker therapy. The remarkable story of the first cardiac pacemaker is embedded in St. Jude Medical’s history, and today, St. Jude Medical has once again demonstrated its commitment to revolutionizing cardiac rhythm management with the CardioMEMS™ HF System, a pulmonary artery (PA) pressure monitoring system. The CardioMEMS HF system, featured below, is the only proactive PA pressure monitoring and heart failure (HF) management technology with positive clinical outcomes supported by multicenter randomized clinical data.1,2
