Our Solutions

Our Heart Failure Management Solutions

Abbott designs and builds implantable devices and systems to treat and manage heart failure for many different kinds of patients. We offer a pulmonary artery pressure monitor, implantable cardiac resynchronization devices, heart pumps (also known as left ventricular assist devices or LVADs) and a remote monitoring system, as well as other solutions that can offer effective, safe treatment for your heart failure.

Pulmonary artery (PA) pressure monitoring

This system allows your doctor to detect worsening heart failure before you feel symptoms. A sensor implanted in your pulmonary artery sends information wirelessly to your doctor.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy pacemakers (CRT-Ps)

A CRT-P is a specially designed pacemaker for treating heart failure. A pacemaker is a minicomputer that sends electrical pulses to your heart to help regulate your heartbeat.

Cardiac resynchronization therapy implantable cardioverter defibrillators (CRT-Ds)

A CRT-D is a specially designed implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) for treating heart failure. An ICD is a minicomputer that monitors your heart’s rhythm and sends an electrical shock to your heart whenever it senses a change in heart rate.

Remote monitoring

Remote monitoring allows certain cardiac devices, such as CRT-Ps and CRT-Ds, to communicate with your doctor without the need for an in-office visit. A transmitter reads data from your device and sends it to your hospital or clinic for your doctor to interpret.

Left ventricular assist device (LVAD)

An LVAD is a mechanical pump that assists the heart in pumping oxygen-rich blood throughout the body so that the organs and muscles can function properly.
