Patient ID Card for Deep Brain Stimulation
As a recipient of the St. Jude Medical Infinity™ DBS system, you will receive an ID card that contains important information related to your device. When you first receive your device, you will receive a temporary ID card. We will then mail you a permanent card within 30 to 60 days.
Carry your ID card
Always carry your ID card with you.
- The card includes your physician’s or clinic’s contact information, which those assisting you during an emergency will need to know.
- Certain types of anit-theft devices, such as those used at the entrances or exits of department stores, libraries and other public building establishments, and airport screening devices, may affect stimulation. Patients should use caution when approaching such a device and should request assistance to bypass the device. When you go through security checkpoints at the airport, you will need to show your ID card to security personnel. Ask how best to proceed through the checkpoint. If you must proceed through the device, you should move through the center of the detector quickly and then check your IPG to verify that it is turned on or off.
