Effects of Mammogram Scans on St. Jude Medical Implantable Cardiac Rhythm Devices

Background

Mammography is a radiographic tool for the screening and diagnosis of breast cancer. Based on our review of medical literature, we do not anticipate mammogram scans to interfere with an implantable pacemaker or ICD. We also do not anticipate any damage or reprogramming to the pacemaker or ICD due to this diagnostic x-ray procedure. In addition, we have received verbal reports that mammogram scans have been performed on pacemaker and ICD patients uneventfully.

Potential effects

No interference anticipated.
