The CardioMEMS™ HF System
Because there is so much to live for
The pulmonary artery carries blood from the right side of the heart to the lungs, where the blood is mixed with oxygen before traveling back throughout the body. For people with heart failure, changes in the pressure of blood moving through the pulmonary artery can mean that heart failure is getting worse.
These changes in pressure can happen even before you have symptoms like shortness of breath or weight gain. This means that heart failure can progress silently, which is why it’s so important to stay ahead of it. The CardioMEMS HF System helps your heart failure medical team do just that.
Here's how it works:
- A tiny pressure-sensor is inserted into your pulmonary artery through a short low-risk procedure.
- You simply take a daily measurement of the sensor from the comfort of your home.
- Your healthcare provider reviews the information received from the sensor and contacts you if changes to your medications or treatment plan are necessary.
- Regular monitoring from your home allows you and your heart failure medical team to get ahead of heart failure before it progresses.
